Ugly Betty (2006)
Oh boy is she ugly.
Betty has a heart of gold and enough spunk to be working for Mode fashion magazine. The series brings us through the trials and tribulations of fitting into a workplace where appearances are #1. She draws her support from her adoring father, sassy sister and her very camp nephew.
Another total treat is watching former Miss USA Vanessa Williams as the arch-villian creative director who makes Betty's life at Mode a living hell. The botox-loving frigid conniving vixen could teach Meryl a thing or two about being a B-I-A-T-C-H.
Bitchier than The Devil wears Prada and not pulling any punches with the laughs either. With only seven episodes into the first series, it will be interesting to see how this dramady will get beyond laughing at the ugly duckling phase and introduce new angles to essentially a show with a single theme.
