Khao Lak - CNY 2008
Sorry for the delay in posting my holiday pictures. Was too busy finishing off the pineapple tarts for the season.
Khao Lak is like a precious gem waiting to be discovered by the rest of Asia. Well, the Germans and Swedes are there en masse already.
I've learnt this trip that Germans are even more kiasu than us Singies. All the deck chairs by the beach are reserved via towels by 8am. Wonder if they accept tissue paper reservation here instead.
Apart from the Germans, Nang Thong Bay Resort was a great 4-star hotel. Water is obviously not a problem here.
Can't figure out why most of the hotels along the main beach are throwing Chinese New Year celebrations when I was the only Chinese person in the whole town. Very thoughtful of them to be lighting lanterns for the Lunar New Year (???!?!) tho.
The Khao Lakians are a very laid back people. Was at a massage place (Dad & Son massage) waiting for Daughter to open shop. No one ever showed up.
Unlike Singapore, the people in Khao Lak actually give up their seats to the people who need them more.
Well, we were in Khao Lak for the diving. And working on our tanlines.
The diving here at the Similians was spectacular. Just ask the natives.
It was a pity we didn't see anything unusual. This was the only manta ray we spotted all trip.
Oh well. It was a good holiday. Good times with good friends and family. Lots of nice booze too!
