Weddings...
Ever wonder how did weddings in Singapore become such a ritual?
Check list for a typical Singapore wedding
- 8 course dinners with sharksfin and abalone
- mandatory $100 hongbaos (red packet) cash gifts to the happy couple with your name marked at the door
- being seated with people you don't know, making polite conversation
- the obligatory slideshow with cheesy shots of the the happy couple being made unhappy
- poor friends of the couple being arrowed to be compere and chinese translator
- cheesy 1st course sing and dance routine by the hotel staff
- even cheesier yam seng or worse.. 3 cheers with sparkling wine (not champagne) fountain
- getting cruised by all the other unmarried guys at the dinner or worse.. the best man!
Except for the last point, when did wedding dinners stop being fun?
