The State Within (2006)

BBC One co-production with BBC America in the style of a political conspiracy thriller about 17 days in the life of the dashing British ambassdor in Washington who finds himself in the middle of a quagmire of deceit and lies while dealing with British Muslim extremists, and a very xenophobic US administration. No one is who they appear to be.



Love the slick production values. Tight plot with dozens of storylines somehow intertwining into a web of intrigue. Very strong cast with the British Ambassador played by Jason Isaacs (seen elsewhere with platinum blond locks at Lucious Malfoy) and PFLAG bubbley Sharon Gless channelling her inner Rumsfeld in the role of the US secretary of defence.



Not to mention the very tense relations betwen the magnetic Undersecretary of Defence and his UK counterpart, the Counsellor for External Affairs. Stay tuned... :)
