Holiday lessons

Things I've learnt this Christmas break:

1. It takes 5.2 sec to unwrap the same presents you spent hours planning for and wrapping.

2. You are too old at 31.5yo to pull off board shorts on Byron Bay.

3. Never take your time to snap that shot of a half naked angmoh lady.

4. Escape your inhibitions and the Christmas crowds at the nude beach.

5. No matter how high you lift your shorts, you will get wet.

6. It is not a good idea to dive when the waves are 3 m high.

7. Expect the unexpected. A staph infection could liven up an uneventful retreat and lend valuable insights into the rural Australian health system. (Thank you, Dr Loosemore!!)

8. Fruit and vegemite toast for breakfast are best with a cool sea breeze and good sympathetic friends.

9. Take a break once in a while in your routine to just pause for a moment. And enjoy the view.

10. Always travel with someone who take the time to document the journey. Even if he is a freeloving free spirit who rather fiddles with his video cam than give you proper directions.

11. (Last but not least). Start the new year on a high note with a free flow of Dom Perignon, wagyu beef and good new friends!

Happy 2008!!!

YEARS ago you sent me your list of things you have learned - you should probably add these to the list.

Happy New Year and welcome back.

The last "family pic" in your latest list of things to do... bottom R.H. corner... looks to be someone very much like a certain Malaysian doctor who practises here in Melbourne. Right or wrong?
