I just placed my bets for France.
Am not a soccer genius, nor am I going to bore myself with lengthy football tactics and analysis. The French team are a long shot by a long long way.
There is something to be said about being branded as an team of "old and seasoned veterans" (albeit in their early 30s). This season is about the team enjoying their Indian summer and walking to the sunset in a blaze of Pyrrhic victory. Staring at the inevitable fire-sale myself this year, wonder if the energy and the drive for life will waiver and fade after the big 30.
And of course, there is Zidane.
