No updates lately because of my get-offline-breath-fresh-air regime.
First, KL. For this guy.

His performance with the MPO was stunning. The Third Concerto is not a simple piece, although one of Bartok's most accessible and charming pieces. There was a magical moment in the Adagio Religioso where the orchestra pauses and the piano fills the cosy Dewan Petronas Hall with birdsong. Absolutely scrumptous. I loved the breakneck speed he took with the exuberant finale. The final ebulliant chords were jawdropping.

It was indeed a treat to watch one of the best pianists of our generation. Totally worth the trip to KL and tons more enjoyable than the predictible Beethoven First Piano Concerto he performed in Singapore at the overpriced Sun Festival the week before.

Next. Hong Kong. Lovely city. Every bustling street filled with the energy and buzz that Singapore can only dream of. So many colours and sights.

Even line queuing is efficient here. Not like the idiots in the MRT stations back home.

HK people are relatively free. Free to make love to a partner of their choice. Free to speak their minds. It is unclear how the authorities can tolerate such subversive Western decadence.

Most visitors do not venture out of the bustling city to explore the wild natural setting of Hong Kong. Just 20 mins away from Central, lies the untouched island of Lantau. We had spent most of Friday hiking up those hills, soaking in the sights. Here, its hard to imagine that we are in one of the financial powerhouses of the world.

I was so in awe of the rustic settings that I had to stop and pay homage.

The view from the top is breathtaking. Could used some Nitrox to increase bottom time.

Nice to know. Thought the sticks were for beating bad dogs.
