Things I've learnt in Shanghai - Part 1
1. You can get anything delivered in Shanghai. German Bread. Barossa Valley Semillion. Cheap Indian. Even your own BBQ grill.
2. The locals here have weird foot fashion sense.
3. Mandarin has 4 tones. Cantonese has 9. Shanghainese has 2: loud and deafening.
4. There are no watercress available in the wet market in the summer. Too hot for watercress soup (西洋菜汤).
5. You have to apply in person at the "world class" bank for online internet banking facilities.
Then you have to apply at the said "world class"bank for online funds transfer facilities.
Then you have to apply at the said "world class"bank for intracity fund transfer and/or domestic remittance services.
Then you have to apply at the said "world class" bank for a VISA electron debit card for online transactions.
And oh, you must be fluent in Mandarin since there is no instructions online in English.
I promise not to bitch about DBS again.
The said "world class" bank shall not be not liable for any loss or damage incurred as a result of entering the wrong information in the wrong boxes in the online banking application, which in any case is to be used at your own risk only.
6. According to 3 different agents in 3 different countries, United Airlines has 3 different answers
on whether you can ship a Bichon Frise on the business class upper deck in a 747 to San Francisco. Yes. No. Maybe.
7. When the movers say they are "到了门口" or "at the gate", means they have just arrived on the same planet and are at least 2 hours from your front door.
8. It is futile to request the bitchy uncivilised lady with the fake Fendi sitting next to you to stop texting on her cheapo Samsung at a flamenco concert.
9. You never stop bitching about Singapore. Even after receiving the $200 bribe.
10. Can't stop missing her. It still hurts. Even after 2 months.
